Fender Custom Shop Handwound '64 Chicago Special Pickups

Here we have another rare item. These are Chicago Special Hand Wound Gray Bobbin Pickups. Exclusive and only found on Chicago Music Exchange's Journeyman Stratocaster. 
If you follow my store, you know I have a particular love for Fender's hand wound '64 Grey Bobbin Pickups. This come from my personal guitar. I have since replaced them with a Vintage Set. They are every bit as Vintage Spec as it gets; super sweet scooped tone sonically calibrated, with a nice full sounding bridge. Custom magnet stagger with low G poles for the Neck and Middle and an almost flat magnet stagger for the bridge.

"Finally, the Chicago Special pickups we’re created with Mike Lewis to ensure a balanced output across every pole piece. The Alnico 5 magnets are wrapped in 42 gauge enamel wire, and potted in shellac to recreate the round highs, and wide open frequency range of a vintage pickup."

I personally re-wired this from its original "Fat 50's Half Blender" wiring to a more traditional wiring set-up. I used 3 calibrated Vintage Taper pots, a NOS .047 Ceramic Cap, CRL USA switch, and of course Gavitt Cloth wire. Neck and middle get Tone Pot 1 and Bridge gets Tone Pot 2.

I take pride in my work and care not only about what you can see, but what can't be seen. You can rest assured that what's behind the pickguard is every bit as cared for as what's outside of it.

This is mounted to Sweetwater GT11 Plastics and Brand new GT11 nitrate pickguard (Protective Film Still Intact). This pickguard features a '59- '62 11 hole pattern, but does not have the Truss Rod Notch, as the GT11 neck has a modern style bi-flex rod that adjust at the headstock. If you prefer to save $100 I can ship these with a generic guard and pickup covers.

Neck - 5.4 ohms
Middle - 5.9 ohms
Bridge - 6.3 ohms
